Time after time we’ve seen black citizens killed by the police in situations where non-citizens of color would not have been threatened. That is why people across the land are saying black lives matter.
Police reform is essential and possible but it will not happen by itself. It’s one reason why I’m running for State Senate in Delaware’s 14th district. Personnel records relating to suspensions and disciplinary action must be made public. The militarization of the police needs to end. These are a couple of the things I will fight for in the Delaware legislature.
One thing we can be sure of is that the incumbent, Bruce Ennis, will not. He has been in office since 1982 and made no move in the direction of police reform. He has also stridently opposed all gun-safety legislation.
I hope you’ll support me in trying to make Delaware a safer and more equitable place for all of us. Please vote for me in the Democratic primary on September 15. And if you can please help me get the word out.
